Hey, I'm Lisa, 26 & I'm currently travelling the world - in Australia at the mo! I'm from near Liverpool, in the UK. Just finished my BA (Hons) in Media Production at The University of Lincoln (2.1) so I'm enjoying myself before I have to re-join the real world. I'm a dreamer, beleive anything is possible if you set your mind to it, cliche I know... but since I was little all I wanted to do is travel and be creative & thats exactly what I'm doing x

Hey Guys!
Sorry about the lack of updates lately. I am currently in Melbourne, I have a so-called design job where my boss is a bit of a dick and just wants me to re-create shit posters he has seen on the internet…what he is paying me for, I have no idea…but it’s my income so no complaints really! Other than that, settling into the apparent ‘most liveable city in the world’ - personally, I like it but I kinda prefer Manchester n Liverpool!
Our one and only friend here, Katie put us up when we arrived and she looked after us, well she has come out of ankle surgery (having her tendons and ligaments re-hashed, erghhh!) we are looking after her on the weekends so she can get back on her feet and come back to the UK with us next summer! (providing we are not home sooner) :)
Anyways, when I was there the other night (Monday I believe) I picked up a book that night (as I was off to bed!) that she hadn’t bothered to read, Where Rainbows End by Cecilia Ahern. I loved PS, I love you as a film but never really read anything else she has done and I loved it!
I’ve started reading a lot since I left the UK, its like now that I have time I will just read and read and read, which I haven’t done since school! Books are taking 2-3 days to finish and this one was no exception, it’s wednesday night and all 377 pages have been read and re-read on some occasions! I just loved it.
Rosie and Alex have been best friends since they were 5 years old, he moved away when they were both 14 and they have kept in touch ever since, email, letters, phone calls, visits…Rosie’s life is turned upside down just as she is about to go off and move to be with him at age 18 and she never gets there, they both get married, divorced, married again…never to each other. At age 40 Alex decides to profess his love for Rosie in a letter that her shitty husband finds and never gives her, until long after they are divorced and she is 50 years old. Alex is happy by this point and she does nothing about it, until he divorces his wife and he again makes an effort to tell her how he feels. Aged 52 he finally knocks on her door, after 47 years. It was a lovely story…if only life were a love story!
I would recommend this book to anyone…although Paula, your hormones may make you cry at times, don’t say I didn’t warn you! Complete chick book but if your a hopeless romantic and believe that things that are meant to be, will eventually be…give it a go! :)

I miss home, I miss my friends, I miss my family and my cats! I’ve met a hell of a lot of good people in my life and I am so thankful for that, for every single one of you.
I have met people who could make me laugh without saying a word, people who made me cry for all the wrong reasons, people who made me believe in myself, people who made me feel completely useless, people who have influenced me, people I have influenced….not always in the best ways! I think that too many years pass without people saying what they feel. So to all my friends, family, past lovers and trouble makers I just want to say thank you. All of you have made me who I am today, even if I’m not entirely sure I am happy with who that is! But you have all helped to make me, me and there have been many times that I couldn’t have faced without you all.
Lots of Love,
Lisa x
Hello! After the disappointing Rainbow Beach, we headed south to Noosa which we had been told by quite a few people was lovely, a really nice town, etc. It was nice, but a bit hyped up! We stayed at Nomads in a 16 bed dorm which wasn’t too bad, basic…had a free sausage sizzle for tea so that was cool, plus a cheap jäger, red bull and cranberry drink that was amazing! So the first night we were there we just got drunk! :) it was nice to have a night out for once. Day two and we headed into town to check out the shops and the surf…pretty much everyone was in bikinis and boardies! Not just the adults either but young teenage kids, wandering round with barely anything on…it was bizarre! The surf seemed really cool, unfortunately we couldn’t surf or learn how to just yet but we are going to mojo surf camp later on in the year! :) after hanging around Noosa we headed to the Gagaju Bushcamp which was actually pretty cool! The beds were handmade bunk beds which were kinda like hammocks…very odd but so comfy!
Gagaju…I really didn’t fancy it when we first got there, but it was so good! We stayed in the hammock bunks the first night and were supposed to stay in tents the next two nights…I lasted one n went back to the bunks on the last night! We went on the canoe trip, 14k canoeing on day one and stopped half way to have packed lunch n an ice cream, it was a good workout! On the way back it started to rain…which was a nightmare because the wind was against us and we were going nowhere! Haha it was interesting but was still quite fun. That nite we just had a few drinks and made dinner, the next day we did a further 7k canoeing upto a huge lookout point that was stunning! There were wild kangaroos roaming around, there was a big resort and a nice 5k walk to a beach, we had a few hours so it was a really nice afternoon! On the way back (didn’t have much luck with canoe choices!) our canoe was taking on water so it took us double the time to get back than it took to get there which made me hate it a bit, such hard work! But I actually really enjoyed it all in the end.
After this we headed back to Noosa and did bugger all until the Friday when we went to AUSTRALIA ZOO!! It was sooo good, I got far too many photos of Steve Irwin related things and far FAR too many photos of us both sitting around petting kangaroos! It was amazing, really! We got to pet koalas, skinks, kangas, a baby crocodile, got to see loads of venomous snakes and crocs and typical Aussie animals, it was great! I picked my dad up a ‘Crikey!!’ magnet n went to visit the sick koalas in the animal hospital - you can watch the surgeries n stuff if your there on time but we didn’t fancy that much! that was the end of the Zoo trip, Haha great day out.
Noosa itself I felt was nice but too hyped up, just a typical Aussie town.
Brisbane we didn’t see enough of to comment on much, we were down to …not a lot of cash by the time we got there and other than trying a few dishes in Chinatown we just hung out at the hostel / bar until we left for Melbourne, we will go back though at some point!
So then it’s off to Melbourne!
Fraser Island was frigging AMAZING!! We visited Lake Birrabeen, Red Canyon & The Pinnacles which are huge rock type formations that are made completely from different coloured sands that has blown in from the mainland for hundreds of years…they were huge, and solid like rock, amazing! This was all on the first day. Then on day two we visited Eli Creek - you wade up it and he current floats you back down . Indian Heads which is a huge bundle of rocks that has the best lookout of Fraser, it was awesome! Then the Champagne Pools & Kirrar Sand blow. Then the gorgeous Lake McKenzie on the last day! I didn’t realise there was so much to go see and do! There was a bit of walking involved, about 10-12k up and down hill, over 2 days…which I was definitely not used to, but I managed fine. The views were beautiful, the lakes and creeks were full of fresh water (no salt water) and brisk…best way to wake up in the morning and I really enjoyed the trip!
We did a lot of 4x4 driving on the beach, inland sort road type driving, walking, swimming, washed ourselves and our hair with silica sand at Lake McKenzie…it was like exfoliating at an expensive spa for the day! The group we had was brilliant, apart from a pair of English toffs from Eton boys boarding school who kept worrying that they only have £7k left each.. Oh what a shame, bastards! We had people from all over, England, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, Canada, Southern states of America, we all got on really well! The camp was cool, it’s a permanent camp site so the tents were already set up for us and the tour guide snook us extra roll mats because we had worked for palace!! Haha… The kitchen was cool, two huge gas BBQ’s and stove with sinks n everything you could need really, we all made grub then sat down and played Ring of Fire / Kings Cup and Horse Race! We were all so bloody hammered off cheap goon by the end of it I’m surprised we all got up on time the next few days! Unfortunately there were no toilets and showers at the camp so it meant slumming it in the bushes or on the beach…at one point there were 8 of us on the beach, pants round the ankles when someone spotted a dingo behind us…they can be vicious things too so that was a bit scary for a while! Haha good fun though. Our tour guide, Rango was awesome, we had heard a few bad things about him before the trip, bad reviews but we had no problem, he was lovely with us coz we worked for palace and his knowledge of everything was brilliant! All in all, three of the best days I have had in a while!!! :)
After Fraser we headed back to the mainland, did all our washing again just incase we had carried any bed bugs with us again and then headed off for what was possibly the best shower since leaving the UK, at Flashpackers again…still refusing to go back to living at Palace! We told Palace we were leaving and enjoyed a night hanging out with our new friends having a few drinks and indulging in pizza night while swapping pics over Facebook, ofc!
Tin Can Bay
After Hervey Bay, we headed off to Rainbow Beach where we sat about using free wifi until the bus driver found us and we headed off to Tin Can Bay, where we checked into the Sleepy Lagoon Hotel for the night. There wasn’t a lot to do other than sit and watch TV for the night…a weird little luxury you miss from home funnily enough, you don’t get chance to just sit and watch crappy TV much while traveling! Then in the morning we got up at the crack of dawn and headed down to the marina where a pack of dolphins (are they called a pack?) come up at 7am - 9am every morning to be hand fed by people…a rare thing with wild dolphins, but the dolphin called Mystique had a grandfather who was injured back in the 70’s and the local people looked after him, every since then his family has come back every day to be fed by locals because try trust them! So we got to be on the water with them and take pics, then we each fed mystique a fish! He wouldn’t allow the other dolphins into the marina that morning apparently, lol. It was a nice thing to go see and do!
After this we headed back to rainbow beach for the night…and quite literally did nothing. But that’s because there is nothing to do there!
Now we are in Noosa on the sunshine coast about to go to the Gagaju Bush Camp & Canoeing trip down the Everglades, which for some reason I really don’t fancy doing…but Rachael won’t go by herself (as much as she won’t admit to that) so off we go…yay. Then we are off to visit the Steve Irwin / Australia Zoo!
Updates in a week peeps! X
